About My Program...
The Bridge Program is a blended classroom with both Preschool and Pre-K students. In my classroom I have a structured teaching environment where younger students and Pre-K students can learn together! This is very beneficial for all learners.
The Bridge Program will provide students with a nurturing environment rooted in the knowledge of God's love for them. My program is centered around each students developmental needs. Focusing on social/emotional growth, fine/gross motor, and cognitive development skills. Students will explore academic concepts in both literacy and math to prepare them for Pre-K and Kindergarten. What you’ll see in my classroom is a theme based curriculum where each skill area of the curriculum is connected to a topic which we refer to as a theme. This could be a week-long theme or a month-long theme. All of our classroom activities are tied into the theme during the unit and reflect what we are learning about. The Early Education team has created a Common Core aligned curriculum. It aligns with the expectations of the Common Core that begins in Kindergarten. Please see the curriculum tab to find a breakdown of many of the standards we will be focusing on this year. In addition to the academic piece, the Bridge class also places a heavy emphasis on independence and self-help skills. Pre-K Students:
Are children that will be turning 5 on or before September 1st. These students will be in my Kindergarten Readiness and have more of an academic based curriculum. Preschool Students:
Are children that are 3 & 4 years olds, they will not be 5 on or before Sept 1st. These students will be reenrolled in Pre-K next year and are not yet old enough to attend Kindergarten. These students will have more of a play-based curriculum. Examples of some thematic units we have done before:
